Creative Writing Workshops - January Start
Weekly guided hour live on Zoom; Gentle support group for people working on books; In-person workshops in Sussex.
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2026 :)
If this is the year you have finally decided to prioritise your creativity, do join me at one of my creative writing workshops.
Feel free to reply to this email with any questions at all.
Online Workshops
The theme for the new season of Tuesday Zoom workshops beginning in January is: RESTORE.
We’ll be focussing on the quiet season, noticing small moments of joy, replenishing our creative energy, nourishing our spirit and taking time to acknowledge rest this winter. We’ll look to Katherine May’s book, Wintering as a guide as well. Then, as we head into March, we’ll emerge and begin some more energising writing exercises!
There will be a total of 11 hour-long workshops:
Start date: 9 January
Break: 17 February
End date: 24 March
The Tuesday afternoon Zoom hour (2-3pm UK time) runs throughout the year most weeks in three seasons with breaks inbetween.
To join in, become a paid subscriber of this newsletter for £8 per month or £80 per year. Or you can pay £50 for one season without subscribing to anything on my website.
Come to as many workshops as you want or are able to attend.
Gentle Book Writing Club
Also online for paid subscribers is Gentle Book Writing Club. I’ll be continuing next year with this lovely support group for people working on books or longer writing projects. We talk about issues that come up as a writer that we don’t have time for during the Tuesday hour. I find it so helpful to have this space to chat about things that only other writers understand as well as some accountability. It’s a peer coaching format, sometimes splitting into pairs for equal talking and listening and some journalling prompts to help focus the conversation as well.
Next date: Friday 9 January 9.30am to 10.30am (UK time).
In-Person Workshops
The Writer’s Notebook - Weekly Thursday mornings, Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead
For the first time in years, I have a couple of spaces in this group!
It’s an established group, so it’s not really for beginner writers. But if you’ve been writing for a while just not with other people, and you’re looking for companionship as well as new ideas to energise your creativity, then it could be worth a go.
If you think you might like to try it, but aren’t sure if it’s for you, feel free to reply to this email to arrange a chat with me.
How to Write a Good Scene - Monthly Tuesday evenings, Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead
Getting Started with Creative Writing
I have also booked The Community Art Studio in Forest Row for a monthly Friday morning workshop for complete beginners but I haven’t yet got the details online.
First Date: 30 January 10-12noon
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll email you as soon as I’ve got things organised.
First Draft Boost
And if you have time in 2026 to get your first draft in order, then book me for a First Draft Boost. Reply to this email with some details of your project and I’ll get it in the diary.
Until next time…
